This could get messy!!!

Celebrating your baby’s 1st Birthday is truly a special occasion, in your first year you have already been through so much together the best cuddles ever, feeling that bundle in your arms that you actually created.  Laughter, how can this little bundle have so much personality already? Let’s not forget teething, night feeds and peeing as soon as the nappy comes off, even these events will in time become family lore to be told to embarrass and amuse the teenagers they will become.

Cake smash photography is a really fun way to celebrate the 1st Birthday milestone giving you a chance to stand back and watch as your little one demolishes the cake and to their complete amazement not having their hands wiped or portion controlled.

The cake smash session has 4 stages.

Pre session we will discuss the theme for the shoot, I supply the backdrop, 1st Birthday banner and balloons.  I have pink and blue cake smash outfits including nappy covers, braces, tiara, tutu and some other fun accessories.  Of course, if you have your own special outfit please bring it!  You supply Baby & cake.

We start with some family shots in the outfits you arrive in either just baby or all of you.

We then change baby into the cake smash outfit and bring in the cake for the main event, once the happy birthday baby has had their cake and eaten it you and perhaps siblings can join in the fun.

Now we have a baby covered in cake which you definitely don’t want to put straight in the car, the solution, a bath of course.  I have a small tub which we fill with warm water and bubbles so baby gets a bubbly fun bath and we get some more lovely images.  I use https://www.childsfarm.com/products/childs-farm-baby-bedtime-bubbles-organic-tangerine  It is skin kind but please check the ingredients to make sure you are happy or bring your own brand.

Approximately 2 weeks after the shoot your edited images will be ready and you will be invited to view and choose your prints and wall art.

All babies and their 1st birthday celebrations are individual and I love incorporating your baby’s favourite characters into the shoot, be it Mini Mouse, Octonauts, Sesame Street or their own special teddy I will do my best to weave it into the shoot set up.
