Our mutual love for our dogs
I have a dog, Bobby a Border terrier, he is the best member of our family, full stop. He is never cross, never argues with me and without fail is always at the door to greet me with a wagging tail and a happy countenance. So, it stands to reason that as a photographer I love making portraits of him, especially in his favourite place, the Woods at High Elms Country Park.
And of course, it stands to reason that many of my clients feel the same way, they want an outstanding portrait of their treasured pet often in their favourite habitat, the woods, the park or sometimes the exact opposite a portrait in the studio with an elegant set up showing them off as the royalty they truly are.
My fun fact about myself, that I like to roll out after a few vinos, is that I was Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Association, Junior Handler of the Year. I have shown dogs all over the world and my Wire-haired Fox Terrier, Trevor or Champion Killick of The Mess, won reserve Best in show at Crufts. I grew up with dogs we had, in order, a Black Labrador, Liver spotted Dalmatian, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and we bred wired haired fox terriers. So, my pedigree (Sorry!!) is not too shabby……..I know how dogs should look and I also know how much you love your pets and these two things together will make the perfect portrait.
My sessions in the woods at High Elms or Petts Wood last about 1 – 1½ hours as we want them to let off a little steam first and get a few action shots then we find a fallen tree and pose them there. If they will stay and pose on their own perfect if not you will hold them on the lead and I will photoshop you out in the edit – should you rather go to your favourite woods or location, then please say because I am happy to travel. If you choose the studio set up in my Orpington Studio, the shoot is slightly shorter and less muddy.
After your session you will be invited to view your images and we can discuss your options for displaying your portraits in a beautiful framed print or perhaps a stunning canvas – whatever option you choose your portrait will be a lasting memory of your faithful friend.
